Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Thread Art »

Instructions

Once learned the concept from Lola Jenkins (world's greatest thread art teacher!) it wasn't very hard, just time consuming. Take the class -- those are my special instructions!

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Girls

Style: Cute

Materials

Mottled blue/grey/green batik, black thread, drawing of a butterfly my granddaughter found on line (she's not yet 4), and some leaves and flowers I added.

What was your inspiration?

A butterfly drawing my granddaughter sent to me on line (she's not 4 yet) -- she and I both love butterflies. Once I add a lot of pink to it, she's going to love it!

What are you most proud of?

That I did it! That I designed it and created my own work of art. Thank you Lola!!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Take Lola's class on Thread Art -- you will never regret it. And yes, you can do it! I didn't think I could either.

Time has been a factor -- it takes time to color it! Getting back to it tonight after work. Hope to finish by the weekend. Thanks so much for your very kind comments. In the photo I saw a couple areas that need more background and a couple spots on the wings, so those need to be fixed up before it's done. I think my darling granddaughter will like it!

Yes, can't wait to see the finished product. I particularly like (so far) how your background quilting makes your butterfly and flowers pop!

Thank you! I was quite surprised by that, since I didn't do the overlay technique. They are quite puffy which makes me very happy!
