What was your inspiration?
Who knows what inspires one? I love cats and decided to draft a large one to applique in the center portion of a quilt top. The group to which I was going to donate this wants their quilts to finish about 60x80 inches, so I calculated that using 11 squares wide by 15 high that would finish just under 5.5 inches each would get what I wanted to accomplish. Then I drew a very simple large cat in approximately the same proportions as the top on newsprint and used it as a pattern for my applique, which I satin-stitched to the top.
The quilt top was completed by other committee members and sent for world relief efforts.
