What was your inspiration?
I saw the tutorial for this little quilt on the missouristarquiltco website...it is also on Youtube! I thought it would be the perfect project to learn how to quilt! The instructor Jenny Doan is such a great teacher...she inspired me to sign up for 2 of her quilting classes! Jenny actually teaches this class on Dresden Plates in Quilting Quickly II.
What are you most proud of?
I have wanted to learn how to quilt for a long time...It truely is a great hobby! I still have the binding to do, but I skipped ahead on the Quilting Quickly II course...and watched Jenny 's instructions...she makes it look pretty easy! In the first picture, you can see that I sewed two rows of stitching on the circle... but didn't like how that looked so removed one row. Next time I make a dresden plate, I'll hand stitch the centre circle.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If you are a beginner quilter like myself, I really recommend watching the free tutorials ...it inspired me to sign up for 4 Craftsy Classes...I love that I can learn so many new crafts...all from the comfort of my own home! I didn't have the dresden ruler, but Jenny gives you instructions on making the dresden plates without one. I've since ordered the ruler, also the bias binding ruler & binder tool.... I'm waiting for my order to arrive so I can finish the binding.
