What materials did you use? Thread and buttons

This is such a charming, peaceful piece. I just love the way you mixed your colors and stitches. The buttons are a cute touch! Done is always good!

Buttons we're because of a challenge. Question. Friend suggested beautiful placemats. Arty with each different and without buttons. How do you think they would clean? Interfacing is my main concern.

Buttons were because of a guild challenge. Question. Friend suggested they would be beautiful placemats. Arty with each different and without buttons. How do you think they would clean? The interfacing holding stains is my main concern.

I would suggest using a stiff washable interfacing and not fusible fleece. The placemats would be a "utility" item subject to lots of laundry, therefore needing sturdy fabrics.

Thank you for the idea. Would be lovely on the table. All different but size and finishing would unify. Guess I just need to jump in and see how they hold up.
