This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Sewing With Knits: 5 Wardrobe Essentials »

Instructions

Added a bias ruffle at the neck, attached it to the neck and shoulder seams. Love the look.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Casual, Cute

Materials

Knit fabric.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If you attach the ruffle to the shoulder seam, make sure that you have enough seam allowance for adding the sleeve. I was lucky, I didn't think of this before I attached the ruffle but was lucky that it all worked out.

Cathy, great job with your t-shirt. I love the ruffle. I was contimplating doing a ruffle. Did you make bias ruffles or just a strip folded in half?

I did a bias ruffle but I don't think it matters. I didn't fold it in half, just used a nice stitch along the edge.

Cathy this is so cute. Great job with the ruffle. I was contemplating trying a ruffle. Did you make bias ruffles or just straight strips folded in half?

Welcome Cathy and congratulations on your first post and project. What a great idea to jazz up the neckline with a ruffle. Your fit looks perfect. Hope to see many more of your projects in 2013.

Cute shirt! I like the ruffle detail and the cuffs on the sleeves. A small cuff just makes sleeves looks so much more finished.

I also lengthen the body and put a fabric band around the bottom of the sleeves.
