I did the embroidery/ applique on t-shirt first. Then prepared fashion fabric...do hem First!!, then do traditional gathering process, pin together and sew. Work those gathers until they are as even as you can get them to make it look nice.Difficulty:

Saw child wearing store bought one and said...................I can make that!!!

Just that I tried something different.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Go to thrift shops for the T's......you can find really nice shirts, for very little cash!!
