Topsy Turvy Nine Patch

Instructions

The center of this is the pattern listed. It is an AQS free to members pattern. It was published in the American Quilter magazine in 2007. The designer, Judy Laquidera, has a blog called Patchwork Times. It was not big enough for a queen bed so I added the Snails Trail border and it still wasn't big enough so I added the four patch border!

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Traditional

Materials

Leftover nine-patch blocks, some stash material.

What was your inspiration?

Sylvia's wedding quilt was lost in a house fire and as I had the nine patches from a friend of ours I offered to put them together for a new quilt. She picked out the red as a surrounding color.

What are you most proud of?

I was able to add the two borders with very little mathematical adjustments.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Find a pattern that is already written for a queen! Saves headaches.
