I can not wait for the pattern for this hat to come out. It is a wonderful hat and just what I have been looking for. I need a winter hat for my self and just feel that it is better to make one than spending a fortune on a hat that does not keep you ears warm. I look forward to seeing the pattern. Thank you for sharing a photo of the hat.

Does the pattern come in sizes?

paf, this is no pattern yet, I'm still writing it; a version without earflaps is available. It doesn't comes in sizes, it's sized as you knit, because it's worked from the top down. This means you can use any yarns and needle combination you choose, and finish with a project that fits. It's a process pattern; and I'll include a chart of basic sizes to help knitters who don't know specific head measurements.

This beautiful hat that my daughter is modeling is as soft as a cloud. The double thickness of the ear covers will keep both ears and outer face protected from the cold. We know the sheep this yarn comes from as well as the hands that have dyed it and knit it! The best life is a connected life.

Just a plug for the yarns, which came from A Wrinkle in Thyme Farm. The wool comes from the farm itself; the angora from local rabbit owners. The yarns are spun at small mills in Maine. They're hand-dyed at the farm's fiber center, by resident dye-artist Marty and members of the farm's fiber circle. They also sell fleece, roving, needle-felting supplies, kits, sheep-skin pelts, maple syrup (it's sugar season, right now!) eggs, and maple sausage. Their website: http://awrinkleinthymefarm.com/

Very astute of you; I designed this for my son, who rides (snowboards). He's had folk try and buy his (he's got three) while wearing it at the slopes.
