Swirl shawl #2

Pattern Info

Instructions

Obviously, I've only used the knitting pattern, not the assembly instructions of the Sagrantino shawl here. If you have a hard time contextualizing your work, take advantage of some graphing paper and DRAW OUT YOUR SHAPES to best design the shawl to the shape you want it to be.

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Romantic

Materials

Mostly Filatura Di Crosa Multicolor, #4053, some Reynolds Fusion leftovers, and Louet Mohair.

What was your inspiration?

I found a 37 skein lot of mohair yarn online for a very good price, and the fuchsia yarns were just calling for a repeat of this pattern I had knitted before. I added some other yarns and tones for alternate interest, also the five skeins of the Filatura yarn weren't likely to be quite enough for the size I had in mind.

What are you most proud of?

The biased shape was a bit of a question mark initially, but with a nice shawl pin, the whole thing drapes beautifully over shoulders and the shape actually gives it added interest.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The pattern is so easy rating it intermediate skill level is a stretch. Go for it!

Just beautiful. I have some variegated yarn I couldn't resist, but didn't have a project in mind, this looks perfect.

You do amazing work. I have printed the instructions and, hopefully, get brave enough to try this one. It is beautiful and I hope mine comes out as nicely. Thank you!

It looks like a miserable pile of yarn all the way until you block it properly. This is also the stage where the pictures are from. I pin it on a soft surface on plastic bags, and I kept misting it for about three times over 24 hours to make the fibers settle to shape. As a pattern it is super easy to make. Have a very short needled and short corded circular needle, and the same size DB needles to finish each swirl, it literally makes itself once you've started. Just pay attention to how the swirls attach to each other. Remember, this is just for fun, anyway!

Oh, by the way. The person who pinned this on Pinterest with a $2 charge is a thief. In order for websites like this to work, the designers work MUST be respected. The link above was found online free of charge, and has remained so. There is no need for anybody to pay for it. I certainly had no monetary gain in knitting or posting the project. Do not charge for other people's work, it is stealing.

Thank you, you're very kind. In all honesty, I just got lucky with my little ebay find for yarn, and the Filatura yarn being absolutely perfect for this pattern. It is so much fun when the project turns out this good, though!
