The Sweetwater Bag has two handle options, a knitted/felted handle or a leather handle that attaches to the bag with snaps. The leather handle can then be removed so the bag can be cleaned and so that you can make the bag in several colors (because it is so much fun to make!) and not have to buy multiple leather handles:)The pattern for this bag is available for sale in my etsy shop.

Creating the bag so that the leather handles can be removed so you can make several of these without having to buy a set of handles for each bag.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Be careful...this bag is addicting! Very simple to knit and great fun to see it felt up, you'll definitely want to make more than one. It looks great in a bright color!
