What was your inspiration?
This was a baby quilt for my cousin's daughter that I made about 2 years ago. (Unfortunately I don't have any really great pics. These were the best of what I took.) It's based on a pattern for a quilt of circles out of one of my quilting mags (sorry, I can't remember which one! I'll edit and post it if I come across it while unpacking.) I had the idea of adding the "bow tie" pieces and turning the circles into pieces of candy. Fabric shopping for this one was a lot fun - lots of bright colors! It's also one of the first quilts I quilted on my new machine, so I had a lot of fun playing around with all the decorative stitches as I quilted it!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
There are some really great techniques out there for piecing circles. They're really not as scary as some people think! Do some research and take your time. You'll be amazed at how well they come out!
