Crocheting: Sweeney Todd and Mrs Lovett

Sweeney Todd and Mrs Lovett

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Crocheting

For: Other

Style: Goth, Funky, Geeky

Materials

acrylic yarn, cotton/acrylic fabric, pleather, buttons

What was your inspiration?

Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd: the Demon Barber of Fleet Street". I love the clothes that costume designer Colleen Atwood creates! I really studied photos of her designs to create the clothes for these dolls. All the items are removable, and the Mrs Lovett doll has tapestry crocheted black and red legs.

What are you most proud of?

That I actually finished these two :) These are the very first dolls I ever made like this. They took about a month. I had to design everything and I had to figure out how to make their hair just right. It was an amazing feat!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Pay attention to details!

I'm blown away! I've been a little obsessed w/ that movie ever since I saw it. I see below that you don't have a pattern?!? I was going to offer to pay you for it. OMG, sobbing LOL. Don't suppose these 2 are for sale or you could recreate them?

I became obsessed, lol! It's a great movie :) The bodies are easy enough to write patterns for (well, I assume... I've never actually written one in all the years I've been crocheting). The hair and the clothing is wear it gets tricky. I custom designed the clothes and have paper patterns for them. They would be hard to reproduce. I do, however sell them on my Etsy page :) I have a link on my main page here.

I'm such a dork, I never write down my patterns. The characters/creatures just evolve :)
