Before & After
Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Retro / Vintage, Romantic, Cute

Materials

I took a sweater I found at Goodwill and changed it into a cardigan with a button front and a scalloped neckline.

What are you most proud of?

Using the old waistband to create a button band down the center front.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Sew slowly when creating the scalloped neckline. I used a taffeta as the facing to give it some stability.

I absolutely LOVE how you made the collar pop with the deeper V and scalloped edging. Did you accomplish this with a serger?

I did everything on this sweater with a serger, EXCEPT for the scalloped neckline. It would have been a bit difficult to get the perfect corners where the scallops meet. I used my sewing machine and attached orange silk taffeta as a facing, but serged the edge of that, of course! :)
