Crystal 'Open Heart' Necklace
Instructions
I can't find the link for the pattern that I followed, but if you type Crystal Open Heart Necklace into YouTube you find a couple of videos (that's where I found it!). Materials
For this piece I used 84 bicone Swarovski Crystal beads (4mm) and silver coloured seed beads. The thread I used was medium thickness nylon beading thread (too thin and it doesn't keep it's shape, too thick and you can't cross through the beads enough times).
What was your inspiration?
I like doing complicated pieces as they make me feel like I've made more of an achievement and I like a challenge! I also like working with crystals and thought that the design was so beautiful.
What are you most proud of?
I'm most proud of being able to do this pattern without following instructions and adding my own twist by making a different colour for each side so that it produces a 2-Tone effect. I also altered the design slightly to create a 'Cirlce' shape instead of a 'Heart' which also gives a beautiful effect.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I would advise that if you're new to jewellery design and bead weaving that you should start with something a little easier first just to practise. Other than that, just take your time and concentrate!
