I'm also intrigued by the lighting - would you care to share how it's done? Your cakes are consistently brilliant...

Bless you! I followed a Paul Bradford tutorial for this, so credit where credit is due. I adapted his design doubling the tiers, adding crystal and cutting the rice paper into feathers rather than shards. Google 'Paul Bradford Crystal Palace cake''........

Its cake separated by clear pillars. You then hide the pillars by hot glueing glass baubles around them. You then feed fairy lights into the baubles and hide the battery packs in the middle. Its actally easy to do, but I would recommend his tutorial (which you have to pay for) to explain what you need and the process. I have plans to try diffent baubles and decorations between each tier.

Your last grouping of cakes is stupendous, as always. I'm such a fan! This particular cake is absolutely astounding! Is it lit? How on earth do you come up with the ideas for these edible sculptures? And who would dare to actually cut into one?

This is inspired by a Scottish cake designer called Paul Bradford. he also runs online courses - designer-cakes.co.uk, I think. I adapted his design, so can't claim for the concept! I doubled my tier heights to add gravitas, added handmade feathers, and crystals for extra sparkle. Awesome original cake - check him out.
