Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: This cake was very customized. :) The top tier represents my client's love of music. I used gray royal icing and a stencil. The 2nd tier was a 4 layer, colored vanilla cake (green, pink, purple and blue). This is the offset chevron pattern I learned from this class. I used her favorite colors for all the chevron strips. The bottom tier represents her foundation, her beautiful family made out of gum paste. They're sitting on a white "carpet/blanket". :) I also painted the bottom tier with silver luster dust. The back side of the cake has 3 frames. They frame out special things that she loves. Her violin, her sneakers in her have color-green (she a runner) and her iPhone? I can totally relate to the iPhone addiction..

Jessica did such a great job and made it look so easy that I totally underestimated the time it would take to cut and place the offset chevron pattern.. :) It took me about 3 hours from start to finish(meaning cutting the strips, putting them on the wax paper and placing them on the cake) and I STILL didn't get an even number of full strips.. I ended up with 2 strips going in the downward position next to each other.. :o
