What was your inspiration?

My husband went to New Orleans during Isaac to help get the power back on. He was gone for 2 weeks and I wanted him to have a comfortable new robe (his was in tatters) that would show him how much I appreciate all he does. For me he truly is SuperMan!

What are you most proud of?

Everything. It turned out so well. I tried techniques I had never used before. Like flat felled seams. I tired overcast seams for the first time. I am usually in too much of a hurry to do things like this. This time I felt I had all the time in the world since I knew he would be away for at least a week. I even made a little tag for the collar. At first i had cut out the binding in blue, but it seemed too boring so I went back and found some bright red like Superman's cape. My husband (a big Superman fan, still) tells me there is a panel of Superman relaxing in his robe and it looks just like the one I made. Who knew?

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Something handmade for someone you care for gives you both such a sense of love and appreciation. Don't worry if it's not perfect. If it's made with love, it will be perfect to the recipient.
