What was your inspiration?
I had the idea to make Blankets for the Elderly. So I asked my on-line friends all around the World if they would like to help me, by donating 6" Crocheted and Knitted Squares. To date we have now made 90 'Sunshine Blankets' which are hand-delivered to the Elderly folk in Nursing Homes in the UK.
The inspiration I think comes from the World of 'Flickr' an on-line Photo Sharing site, where every day I see the wonderful talent of many Ladies around the World.
What are you most proud of?
I am proud of the Ladies, my 'SIBOLETTES' who very kindly take time out of their busy day to make Squares for me, so I can assemble them into gorgeous Blankets for the Elderly. Their kindness amazes me and each Square is made with such love for our Elderly folk.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
To start a project of this type. I would say you need a lot of time and 'determinaton'. To be able to co-ordinate this successfully needs organisaton and the determination to see the project through. I don't think a project such as mine should be started if you can't keep everyone informed of progress made step by step. I think it is important to also show where the Blankets are delivered to if possible. Ladies have given thier time and a little money to send these Squares to me and I always show photos when they are delivered to the Nursing Homes because I feel an obligation to them.
So my advice is. 'Don't start something you can't see through!'.
