Difficulty:

Category: Crocheting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Casual

Materials

Red Heat Yarn - Cornmeal

What was your inspiration?

The pattern reminded me of sand dollars and would be the perfect accessory in any home by the beach.

What are you most proud of?

The pattern is not that difficult and easy to memorize so you can take it anywhere to work on it. The completed project is a real feeling of accomplishment.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't be afraid to experiment with different colors. I have used a speck yarn that looks like sand, I've used this bright cornmeal color and I have used alternate colors creating a pattern also. Have fun!

This pattern is really easy actually. Download the pattern above. It's free. Each 8" square is the same and then you sew them all together. After about 5 squares you can easily memorize the pattern. Give it a try. I recommend Aran Fleck from Red Heart because it looks like sand!!

I found it in Crochet Today the Winter Issue 2008. I've made this afghan in Aran Fleck and Corn Meal so far. It's easy to make because after about 4 squares you can memorize the pattern and your off to the races! Enjoy!

I made this pattern into a bedspread for a queen size bed, my daughter says it will be our heirloom :)...it was fun and so satisfying to see it finally finished!
