Batiks for the background, and appliqued sunflowers, embroidery designs for the butterflies.
What was your inspiration?
I love sunflowers and I also love quilting, my favorite type of quilting pattern is called Bargello, which is what I did with the background, I wanted something spring/summery after a long cold winter.
What are you most proud of?
That I achieved this without any kind of pattern. I really like the way it turned out, and I think it'll look cool in my entryway when I get through binding it.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Draw a sketch of your design before you start, relax and have fun. It's OK if you mess up, cover it with an applique!
