This is a nice looking flower emphasized by your shallow depth of field and the use of a telephoto focal length. The soft light really reaches into the flower to show off its detail. One thing to consider watch your edges. Edges are a critical part of a composition. When you have little or no space around your subject (like here), the subject looks like it has been forced into a box (the frame of the composition). Either give a little space to allow the subject to be free of the edges, or use the edges deliberately to crop through the outer part of a subject (that will emphasize the inner part of the subject and the detail there, rather than the whole shape of the subject).

Thanks Rob for your very comprehensive reply I appreciate it. I could have quite easily cropped the bottom section by zooming in on the fly.
