What materials did you use? Sunflower panel, warm and natural batting, quilting thread, thimble and good quality hand quilting needle.

What are you most proud of? This wall hanging was my first attempt at hand quilting. I really like the relaxing and simple nature of hand quilting. I was pleased with the way the project turned out.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? I would advise a novice hand quilter to start with a panel. A panel is pre- designed and allows you the time to concentrate on perfecting the hand quilting technique.

Really caught my eye! Love the big pieces - You mention hand quilting, as in applique? This look like nice size pieces to learn on.

Thanks! This project was one whole fabric panel, no applique on this one. I used a panel to allow me to concentrate solely on my hand quilting technique. Absolutely loved the whole process, very relaxing once I was comfortable with the technique.

Yes, I have done the panel trick also to practice. I love the hand stuff, but it's become harder as my hands get older, of course. It's a great project to keep in the car or work on at appointments or something, so you don't have pins everywhere. I visit nursing homes a lot and it sparks peoples interest when they see it, too.
