This was my first Craftsy class...and what a great one! And it had the perfect answer to the problem I was facing with the cardigan i was then knitting: the 2 fronts and the back were done and I had absolutely no idea how long the set-in sleeves could be with only 4 small skeins of yarn left... The solution was in this Short row class: top-down set in sleeves, so well explained, it gave me confidence to give it a try! Better off using ALL available yarn in stash than risk running out of yarn with traditional 'bottom-up' sleeve knitting...!!! And it worked out PERFECTLY! I was amazed at how easy it was to achieve such a professional finish in my first time using this technique! And as a bonus for me: I will no longer be avoiding set-in sleeves (I hated to sew them...). Thumbs-up to Carol Feller's Short row class; thanks for a great learning experience...now off to another Craftsy class! Thank you all for your nice comments! And i definitely suggest you keep in mind that short-row set-in sleeve are a must try for every level of knitter because results are simply amazing...!
I couldnt agree more and would add that the Japanese method is definitely worth the extra time it takes, not only for super fine-, but also bulky wool. Nice work! Looks like you picked up from the wrong side or pearled a row before starting on the short rows; interesting Ive discovered by chance that K1, K1tbl at the shoulder edge will raise the edge slightly and make for an even more defined contrast; so will keep doing that wherever practicable
Thanks for your comment! I did pick up from the right side and purl 1row before starting the short rows! But I will also definitely try your 'k1, k1tbl' next time!
