I have patterns that I got from a friend when she used to camp in Florida. The patterns I have are for a blue bird, cardinal, McCaw,,butterfly, hummingbird and a USA heart. Then my friend made a pattern for a pumpkin and a Christmas tree.Difficulty:

Materials
I used Sworski beads, s waxed unstretchable white cord. A board with small holes drilled into it for the strings to be strung through.
What was your inspiration?
I am handicapped, so I have a girl friend who gave me some of these patterns and she thought it would be a fun project for me to get into. I have made mostly the cardinal because it is a beautiful bird, however I have the mccaw hanging in my family room window which is a south window and it is just beautiful when the sun shines on it. I have made many of them and everybody in my family got one for Christmas the first year that I made them. I also make them as gifts for my friends. I have sold some and would like to sell more, but I don't know if I want to sell online. Time will tell, I guess.
What are you most proud of?
They look beautiful when they are finished. They look so nice when the sun shines on them.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't buy cording that stretches. You have to use the wax coated unstretchable cording and you want to use white since the black would show through the bead especially when the sun shines on it. I have never seen these sun catchers any place and I would be very much interested in getting more patterns for different things if there is someone else out there that makes these. It is a fun project to work on and if done correctly it is just plain beautiful when finished.
