Category: Home & Garden

Type of item: Food

For: Home

Style: Casual, Outdoorsy, Traditional

Materials

1 large bunch, fresh kale from the garden (or farmer's market), a food dehydrator, sunflower butter, soy sauce, lemon juice, cider vinegar, hot sauce, and seasoned salt

What was your inspiration?

I tried a few kale chip recipes online, but wanted something different and more flavorful.

What are you most proud of?

I love how delicious, crispy, and tasty these are. They are also very easy to make and high in nutrients and fiber.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Using a food dehydrator makes these foolproof, but if you don't have one, or are in a hurry, you can also do them in a 300 F degree oven on cookie sheets, for about 15-20 minutes. Be sure to watch carefully, as they brown quickly towards the end, and if that happens, they could develop a bitter taste.

I have been eating Kale all my life but never heard of dehydrating them. Thanks for the article, I will have to give it a try.
