Love it! Reminds me of a quilt that my Grandmother made me when I was a child. I've always wanted to make a Sunbonnet Sue quilt but so far haven't got around to it.

This quilt is beautiful. I have a Sunbonnet Sue quilt that my greatgrandmother started back in the 1930's. It is made from my mother's school clothes. She died and my grandmother finished putting the sashing and borders on the quilt. My great aunt quilted it for us. I love the quilt. Would not take a million dollars for it. I am also crazy about all Sunbonnet Sue quilts. I am fixing to start one in just a few months. Keep us the great work.

Hi I need everyones help! I have a quilt that was started by my grandma in 1932 for my mother 6 months before she was born on Aug 3,1933. Will my grandma died 6 months after my mother was born and my grandma never finshed the quilt, her sister put the quilt in a pillowcase and i was sent all the peices this year. It is a sunbonnet sue. All handsewnwith black thread with dark pink and cream colored back grounds with light pink and medimum pink sunbonnet sues ( this was around the depression)the material is from old clothes she cut up. Please can you help me and send me some hints on what to do, all I have are the blocks no extra material. So I'll have to buy all the material to add to it. Please Help Me!!!!

Since the material is very old you will need to be very careful with it. Always wash hands before working on it but the most important thing is to do all of the sewing by hand. Old material sewn with an electric sewing machine may leave permanent markers or damage on the materials. You will also need to handquilt it. Maybe join a Quilt Guild near you and get some assistance that way.

My greatgrandmother quilted Sunbonnet Sue quilts for every girl in our family. My granddaughter, at 14, was given the one made for my mother at age 8 and was never used. My granddaughter Loves it. All made out of greatgrandma's chicken feed sacks.
