What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Double check your layout with extreme care or you might find yourself surprised. :D
I do longarm quilting as a business and you would be surprised how many turned blocks and misplaced block units I have seen! I've done it, too. All quilted and then...OH MY! I actually appliqued pieces over the wrong ones and then re-quilted the block! I love your quilt. Change the name to Summer Garden Surprise and it will be even more intriguing!
I just love it the way it is. I'm sure back in the pioneer days they did not worry about little things as long as it kepted them warm. Life is not perfect, so my vote is leave it the way it is and laugh about it.
Thank you. That's exactly what I've decided to do. The funny thing is that no one notices the mistake at all.
The Amish say 'no one is perfect' & they have a flaw in every quilt they do. I like it just the way itis.
Thank you. I didn't know that this tradition was part of the Amish quilting culture. I've finally accepted it and it's been gracing my table "as is". :)
For about thirty years I traveled to different schools doing art projects with students teaching something about their curriculum. A lesson I always wanted the students to learn was that perfection was an illusion. If you wanted to find a flaw you could. It is more important to learn from the process. One teacher never learned this lesson. After accepting her negative comments for numerous years I took great pleasure while standing with a group of teachers admiring a large tile mural newly installed on the exterior of their school. The teacher pointed out a flaw and I cheerfully informed her we did that just for her!
Love it! I taught school for more than 30 years and I know that teacher's twin.
Oh I love it! It reminds me of my garden log cabin I did last summer. Mine is all log cabin though, no weathervane blocks. I like the addition of the weathervane blocks.
Thank you so much. This is the third summer that this quilt has been on our dining room table. I love the colors.
