I wanted to add another dimension to this sugar flower. Since sugar flowers generally do not have any smell, I found a candle wax gardenia scent. Now this sugar gardenia attracts with both the visible and aromatic appeal. Still delicate, yes, but it is more memorable and likely to be treasured for a long time.Difficulty:

What was your inspiration?
The person's favorite flower.
What are you most proud of?
The goal of realism with sugar art was achieved both visibly and aromatically.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
In mounting your sugar flower do so with straight pins. This allows the flower to sit above the wax and so not absorb any of it. The effect is when one bends down to smell the flower they will get a wift of the actual flower scent adding to the dis-belief that the flower is made of sugar. Remember that the flower is not attached to the wax but just sits on it's support above it--so be careful in how you move it around.
