I'm wondering how you achieved a more swirled look to the center of these roses vs. a star shape. I watched the Maggie Austin Demo and I'm trying to avoid the 5 point "star" look. Also, yours look full and rounder more like a ball, rather then a cone. Any advice you have would be awesome. Btw, your cakes are incredible!!! You should be teaching a class on craftsy!!!

Hi Michelle! What a compliment! Well to be honest these are a bit dated now. But I liked them at the time! I have debated removing this project even. But I'll leave it! It has been so long ago I can barely remember. But I believe I did more sections that five. Building into more than five sections. And did many many layers. So, to avoid that look you would fiddle with the first layer on each section to get that how you like and then keep going. You could even add normal petals individually at the end. I was counting things on a real one at the time.
