Style Funky

What materials did you use? Cotton batik on front and Kona cotton on back as base materials. Threads included fun fur, rattail, cotton and rayon threads from 30 to 50 weight, variegated stain cords, plus #5 and 8 pearl cotton and embroider floss for hand embroidery.

What are you most proud of? I'm pleased with the end product and thrilled that I was able to use these techniques to "cover" stitching I was less pleased with. Like Carol Ann says, "There are no mistakes."

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Fiddle with those decorative stitches on you machine before using them on you final project. I think some stitches are much more suitable and usable on curved stitching lines than on straight stitched lines. I really liked stitches than are dense enough to look like they're couched as they add texture. The fun fur adds additional texture and dimension as well, but may not fit with every project. Also know that if you enjoy these techniques, they'll open up lots of other ideas and directions to follow.
