Stupendously Stitched IPad Case

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Stupendous Stitching: Adventures in Surface Design »

Instructions

I designed my own pattern; need basic sewing knowledge and basic sewing machine skills along with some embroidery experience/knowledge.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Functional

For: Women

Style: Whimsical, Casual, Funky

Materials

cotton fabric, fusible fleece, trims for couching

What was your inspiration?

Ever since taking the Stupendous Stitching class here on Craftsy, I truly love the technique and have incorporated it in many of my projects and gifts, so I must attribute my inspiration to Carol Waugh and her willingness to share with us. I implemented this technique on four different projects that are shown in the photos and am pleased with the end result. I must admit I like to see the wider zig-zag stitching around the perimeter of the project, as opposed to a more narrow stitch that may disappear ~ and love to experiment along the way. This technique is so forgiving and artsy-fartsy (in nothing but the best possible way) that there's room for many interpretations.

These are all so beautiful and I love that you created your own pattern. Now, all your friends and family need to buy an iPAD just to get a cover made by you!

I was anticipating a couple of birthday gifts, since I was given a "hint" as to Christmas gifts that were planned.
