Stupendous Stitching

Class Project

Class Project

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Stupendous Stitching: Adventures in Surface Design »

Difficulty:

Category: Embroidery

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Romantic, Traditional, Whimsical

Materials

Fabric, thread, batting, wooden curtain rod.

What was your inspiration?

The course, of course!

What are you most proud of?

Making do. Living in Honduras, I can't always go buy supplies I need. You can't find a decent machine thread, cotton or otherwise, in the whole city. But, I found as much rat tail and pearl cotton a person could want.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

It's a great way to get familiar with all those beautiful decorative stitches on your machine,

You have made a delightful piece. The hanging style and wavy bottom are both contemporary and have a light cheerfulness that the piece does. Your stitching has balance yet very fresh. Well done!

I love this idea...., it does have that Indian Woven look. It also reminds me of the samplers my mother use to make, not like the typical sampler but more like what you've done here.

This is beautiful! The "regularity" of the design adds a completely different look than the "random" look I did. Well done!

I love your colors, the way you hung the quilt & the wavy bottom. I keep looking at this class wondering if I would follow thru & watch all the videos & actually make something if I paid for it - seeing yours hanging on the wall like that makes me think I could. Thanks for sharing yours :-)

Just beautiful! And don't think that we could wave our wands and find whatever we wanted in the US. I, for one, had a hard time finding the pearl cotton and ended up using the wrong weight, and liked it anyway.

You can order pearl cotton from Satin Cord and More--they have a great deal --60 colors for $40 and it is wonderful colors
