This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Machine Quilting: Free-Motion & More »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Women

Style: Classic, Retro / Vintage, Funky

Materials

Cotton dress, black cotton fabric

What was your inspiration?

This was fabric from a dress which my daughter, Susan did not want anymore so I used it to make her a cushion as part of her Christmas present.

What are you most proud of?

I love how the cushion looks when I laid out the striped fabric vertically and horizontally. I am also pleased with my grid quilting using the masking tape to ensure straight edges (thanks Wendy)
It was good to recycle some cotton clothing.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Your pillows are great! What a great idea to recycle old clothing like this - plus they turned out so good! They look so nice together - stripes but each different.

Thanks Darns... I have told all my family if they have any cotton clothing to run it passed me before it goes to the recycle bin!

One word, Desna - SNAZZY! I have a large bag full of my beautiful '80s Laura Ashley dresses with metres and metres of pure cotton fabric in the skirts that are just waiting for me to unpick them and make something else out of them. You've just shown me how successful doing so can be!
