String Quilt

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 »

Instructions

I used 11 inch blocks of muslin to make the blocks for this quilt. (I actually made the blocks before the class, but they are the same thing)

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Unisex

Style: Traditional

Materials

Fabric scraps, muslin, batting, thread, binding

What was your inspiration?

Lots of scraps!

What are you most proud of?

That I finally put these blocks together and finished the quilt - I had several piles of blocks that were odd sizes and decided to trim them all up to the same size and finish the quilt.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just throw random strips together. Really, the worst clashing strips and ugliest combinations make the best blocks!

I love this quilt. I'm going to try to make my 4 year old granddaughter a quilt for Christmas using this block. I've got a lot of bright colors I'm going to use.
