Instructions
It went easier this time with lots of steam and starch. I love this block, because of the silky feel and it seams to sparkle.Difficulty:
Category: Quilting
Type of item: Accessory
For: Home
Style: Retro / Vintage, Traditional
Materials
Fabric is from my 30+ years of stash. I used a stiff net for the backing to stabilize the square. The Black with stars is the only cotton fabric, the rest of the scraps are what my daughter calls "silkie stuff"
What was your inspiration?
I was not satisfied with my first string block, it was good but something seamed off to me. I wanted something that looked richer. I knew I could due better, so what better excuse to do more sewing, and getting rid of more stash.
What are you most proud of?
The seams that should line up do line up and I achieved the rich feel.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Read the instructions and watch the video at least twice. If it is a new technique go slow, and don't feel down if your first try turns out to be a practice piece.
