This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Sewing With Knits: 5 Wardrobe Essentials »

Instructions

I bought the walking foot as recommended by Meg and found a stitch on my machine that I had previously been rather confused with...it was the triple stitch!

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Traditional, Formal / Bridal

Materials

Ponteroma two way stretch fabric. Polyester thread

What was your inspiration?

I wanted a new dress for my brother's wedding and when searching through the patterns I found this form hugging pattern. I had never worked with strtch fabrics before and was a little concerned that the staff int he haberdashery said that I'd need to be really careful.

I decided to buy Meg's class in the hopes of picking up some useful tips and I was so pleased that I did. The walking foot was fantastic and the whole project came together really quickly and without any difficulties with puckering etc. I'm now inspired to try other knit fabrics...

What are you most proud of?

I managed to get the front and back pin tucks to match exactly, it took a while but it was worth the fiddle.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Relax and enjoy it, I watched all of the first three sections and the start of the hoodie construction and that gave me the knowledge I needed to start sewing with confidence. Meg is right, it's quite easy once you get going.

Thank you for your kind comments. We had the best day, beautiful sunshine and a seaside location. The bride was stunning and my brother, the groom, was glowing with pride.

Hi, the dress looks great on you. Was this pattern from Meg's collection because I didn't notice it on the advertising pic. If not, can you share the pattern co. And the number with us? Thanks!

No, it wasn't one of Meg's patterns but I used Meg's skills to help me work with stretch, knit fabrics for the first time. The pattern is by Butterick and it's number B5559. Good luck!
