Instructions

Starch!

I got this pattern from 'Jelly roll quilts' by Pam and Nicky Lintott- their instructions are very clear.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Cute

Materials

The lovely ladies at the Quilt Room in Dorking did the longarm quilting. I used Moda's 'Sent with Love' jelly roll, designed by Deb Strain.

What was your inspiration?

I loved this pretty jelly roll from Moda as soon as I saw it! I wanted to make my mum a special quilt for her birthday, and this cheerful collection was perfect.

What are you most proud of?

I love how much my mum and aunts love this soft little quilt!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Starch!!!

This is quite an easy quilt, but because the blocks all end up with bias seams, it can be a stretchy affair, so I used a whole tin of spray on starch once I'd sewn the jelly roll strips into fours. It made constructing the quilty fairly accurately a lot easier.

Very nice! I love the colors. I did notice the quality in the free motion quilting, I had thought you may had done that yourself. Good Job! And thanks for the Tip....Starch!

Thank you! My next big challenge is to learn to quilt my own projects - I have a real block against quilting it myself, which I'm hoping to overcome with my next small quilt... The course on quilting is helping a lot!
