Instructions

I made this quilt off of a pattern by Connecting Threads. They no longer have it available. A similar pattern is available through the link. This is a paper pieced pattern.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Other

Style: Classic, Traditional

Materials

This was made with batik fabric. I used regular foundation paper for this as opposed to using the freezer paper method. This made matching the seams very easy.

What was your inspiration?

I loved the colors of the batiks. They make a really stunning quilt.

What are you most proud of?

Best of all the person I made it for really loved it and has it displayed in his home.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just a suggestion. Use foundation or regular paper as opposed to freezer paper for this quilt. This makes matching the seams very easy. Also, I made all of one type of block at once rathers than switching from block one to block two to block three and then back to block one. This was my first paper pieces quilt and I was so thrilled when I completed it.

It's not difficult because there are only three different blocks. There is a lot of repetition and if you follow the lines on the foundation patterns carefully you'll be successful!

Love the intensity of the colors. Just lovely. Gee, I think I have that pattern. This will inspire me to hunt it up. I may even find a few hours between my other planned project. SEW many projects, SEW little time!

Just beautiful! I LOVE "Storm at Sea" because you can do so much with where you place the lights and darks! Blue is my fav color, too!
