Category: Jewelry

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Romantic, Classic, Eco-Friendly, Traditional

Materials

PMC 3, 3mm and two 4mm round czs and an 8x4mm marquise cz. Two ready-made faceted stone settings, one round and one marquise, one handmade syringe bezel and one handmade metal clay bezel. Design pressed from a rubber mat and cut with a round designed cutter, Round, clear handmade backing cut with a circular cutter. Final patina is liver of sulfur applied using gel with a brush. Style is my own, not the one used in the course, but the way to create it came from the course.

What was your inspiration?

My inspiration came from art nouveau designs.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of my syringe bezel. I have never used the syringe successfully before and with Cindy's great instructions on how to use it, I was successful in forming a nice, clean bezel around a small 3mm cz.
I am also proud of the fact that I made no serious mistakes that required reworking the piece.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Try working with the syringe before using it on the final piece. Make sure you know how to set the stones in the commercial bezels and check that they are straight before closing the prongs. Above all do not fire the stones above 1475 or they may change color. Let them cool naturally, never quench. This advice is in the course, but better to know beforehand that it is very important to follow these instructions.

That is really a pretty piece!! I just ordered a kiln for my birthday/Christmas/Anniversary (12/20-12/27) and it will be coming on Tuesday. I definitely look forward to seeing more of your creations!

Thanks, I appreciate the compliment. I hope to try other things like this with a variety of stone settings. Next time I'll try to show the creative process as well as the finished piece.
