Instructions

I am not sure about the finished items, I struggled with the my first table mat, the autumn leaves.... I needed to let go of all the rules of a Bridal dressmaker! I am not used to raw edges! Doing the cone flower mat was much more relaxing, although I did not allow enough room between the petals for slashing. I need to do some more pieces this way to learn to relax about the outcome and enjoy ...

Materials

For the 2 Table Centre Mats I used 100% Cotton Fabric, Rayon, Metallic and Cotton Thread, Foils, Paint, Sequins and Beads. For the Bag I usesd wooden handles and magnetic snaps and lined it with one of the fabrics used in the autumns leaves mat, there are 2 internal pockets.

What was your inspiration?

I was inspired by the beautiful work of Carol and the great pieces of all the other students.

What are you most proud of?

I like the beading on the cone flower.

I am pleased with the bag made from the left over fabric pieces.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Relax and enjoy the no rules part!!!

Hello Mezzy, the mats, purse are not just beautiful but amazing! I make jeans bags, I'm new to stitch & slash. I will give it a go on adding to my jean bags.As far back as I can remember, love & collect fabric.I taken old clothing, curtains etc. apart just for the fabric. And remade into clothes growing up the oldest of 7,There never was money to buy clothes.I feel blessed to lived without, to now being thankful to what I have, I have my mother old singer sewing machine {that she taught me to sew on}. Thank you for sharing.. Keep creating...

Mezzy ~ I can soo-o-o relate to your difficulty "letting go of all the rules of a Bridal dressmaker!" I was a graphics production pro (before they invented desktop publishing), and even "sewing" is so much more relaxed about measurements and "lining up" than keylining - I have to argue with my "Graphics Brain" every time I set out to sew anything. These are all lovely! Congratulations on 3 "works well done"! I've just signed up for this class, and your comments are very encouraging. :) KharminJ

I love these. I love that they are practical, unusual and colorful. I especially like the flower and how you left the blue fabric inside the petals.

Your artistic eye shows on both of these pieces. I love how you are experimenting and creating your own originals. Just wonderful.
