Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Stitch & Slash »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Funky

Materials

Batik fabric, batting and backing lots of thread!

What was your inspiration?

Caroline's class!

What are you most proud of?

How easy and fun this was

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Go for it and don't worry about messing up - I cut through quite a few of my stitch lines and fixed them with stitching from my machine and you'd never know I did it! This class will teach you to use your machine and just go with the flow as you sew around your design.

Really love your elegant flower - yet it really shows a lot of free spirit, too!! I think you should call this style "Funky Victorian!"

LOL, it was truly a free form choice - I was looking for a design and the pencil holder on my work table has a round bottom and I started with one circle and then made a "flower" which morphed into the freeform petals and I went crazy when I took away the other layers. lots of fun and easy to do.

This is lovely ... but I can only see the close-up viewe ... where would I go to see the entire piece? You should be very proud of this.

The flower is the entire piece lol, it's only a 19x22 piece. Thanks for looking!

Your design is FABULOUS! Great idea and execution. I absolutely love that one lime green petal. (Of course, lime green is my favorite color so that might be skewing my reaction)

Thank you carol, for the fantastic class. I've finished this project and have started to look for more fabric to do another! Friends of mine want to learn this technique as well! I had a great time working on this project.
