This pattern is one, that I designed, for those of you who are art yarn lovers, or spinners, who wonder, just what you can do with it! Part of my "Wraps Per Inch" series.... Though yarn suggestions are offered, with this pattern, it does not feature specific yarn; rather, it is written so that you can choose 25 yards, of your favorite, bulky handspun (in 5 WPI), and make this style of newborn hat! Not accustomed to Wraps per inch? It's simple! All you have to do is grab your yarn, wrap around a ruler (or other straight object), making sure that wraps are touching, but not overlapping. Measure how many wraps per inch there are! (With my thick and thin, hand spun art yarns, I like to do an average.) This also works great for your stash, too! This sweet hat features gentle ribbing, for fit, and a lovely flower pin. Size: Newborn (13 1/2"-19 1/2", inside circumference, 5 1/2" high) Supplies Needed: 25 Yards, bulky, hand spun art yarn (5 WPI) 1 Set, Size 15, Double Pointed Needles, or size needed to obtain gauge (Gauge is 2 st.=1", in stockinette) 1 Tapestry Needle 1 Flower Pin (or, make your own, using hot glue gun) Skills Needed: Knitting in the round, on double pointed needles, Purl, SSK or K2tog. A fairly simple pattern, but I have taken all of the guesswork out of the sizing. I have made many newborn hats, with art yarn! Note: If you have less than 25 yards of art yarn, you can still make this hat! I am being somewhat conservative. I used about 22 yards. These are some of my own yarns, that would work, with this pattern (which you get for free, if you purchase, with my art yarn!): http://www.etsy.com/listing/78068728/moss-and-berries-super-bulky-handspun These are some more yarn ideas: http://www.etsy.com/listing/80931299/moss-backed-goblin-4-oz-merino-top-super http://www.etsy.com/listing/69160035/handspun-merino-wool-super-bulkychunky http://www.etsy.com/listing/81076868/lucy-knitting-pattern-for-newborn-photo Also available, at my Etsy shop, at: http://www.etsy.com/listing/81156157/stella-knitting-pattern-for-newbornThis pattern is one, that I designed, for those of you who are art yarn lovers, or spinners, who wonder, just what you can do with it!
