Instructions

The pattern link is above.

These are quick and fun to make. The short rows (which are not difficult at all) give them the gentle curve so that they are narrower around the back where they button. The yarn is doubled for extra warmth.

Materials

Caron Simply Soft Yarn is usually my yarn of choice because it is so soft (and doesn't break the bank!). U.S. Size 2 straight needles, Button for the back and optional button for the front.

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to create a cute knitted headband that covers the ears and is narrower around the back. The doubled yarn keeps the ears warm and helps to keep the headband from curling as knitting often does.

I did crochet the flowers and instructions are also given for that; however, if you have no desire to crochet, embellish the headband with buttons or bows!

What are you most proud of?

I was able to create short rows that are not obvious because they are near the ribbing and not in the center. They are very easy to do, so don't let short rows scare you! Instructions for how to create short rows are given.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Have fun with this project. You'll have the headband completed within a day!
