Stashbuster Scarf

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Rigid Heddle Weaving »

Instructions

I am brand new to weaving and so curious to learn what results I will get, so I changed-up the warp a little and used 8 ends of solid, 8 ends of multi-colored 3 times, then ended with 8 ends solid (56 ends total). It was exciting to watch the pattern develop and the slight plaid effect created by that warp pattern.

I definitely need oodles of practice hours to make my edges straight ...

Difficulty:

Category: Weaving

Type of item: Clothing

For: Other

Style: Traditional

Materials

I had Patons Classic Wool on hand in Rosewood (multi-colored) and Plum Heather (more solid color), 100g each. It is a "4" or medium weight yarn. (I have leftover yarn, too, for another project!)

What was your inspiration?

I was inspired by the flowering trees that are blooming early this Spring. A pretty scarf is a welcome friend on blustery and still chilly March days.

What are you most proud of?

Weaving is something I have wanted to learn since a young child. I finally did it, and can't wait to warp my next project. Practice, practice, practice!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Try your loom in different positions until you find what is most comfortable with the repetitive movements you make in weaving.

That's sweet of you to say, thanks so much! (I'm still practicing to get my edges even.)

Thank you for your kind words. You should give weaving a try! It is so much more fun and fulfilling than I thought it would be. I think all knitters should learn to weave, too.

This scarf is fantastic! I am happy to see that you warped with different colors. Experimenting is great. And don't worry about your edges. Just keep weaving and practicing.
