What was your inspiration?

I saw a picture of a quilt made from Kaffe Fassett fabrics in a newsletter I received from a local quilt shop. The pattern is called Hot Tamale by Villa Rosa Designs. The overall size of the quilt was given, so I counted the number of blocks and did the math. I don't particularly care for Kaffe Fassett fabrics, and I already have a bunch of really colorful fabrics in my stash. I decided to make a quilt strictly from my stash. I even used stash fabrics to piece the back side of the quilt.

What are you most proud of?

I love the name of this quilt... I had the top pieced and laying out on the bed in our guest room, my daughter saw it and said, "It looks like your stash threw up on the bed." I thought that was so funny, I named the quilt, Stash Vomit!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If you like the pattern, but you don't have a lot of experience with quilting, buy the pattern.

I absolutely love it! It looks like you kept the colours in each 2 piece block quite similar and it's very effective!

Thanks. Actually, I just had a bunch of 3.5 inch strips that I randomly sewed together. After pressing the seams, I cut the paired strips to 6.5 inch lengths. I really didn't plan to put similar colors together, it just came out that way.

I love this quilt - what a great way to use up some of the stash scraps.
