Coming up with this idea was a blast! The pillowcase had great sentimental value, so I wanted to create something funky and special.

a 30 year-old Star Wars pillow case, batting and muslin, piping, a zipper

What was your inspiration?

My friend and her husband are decorating their baby's room in a Star Wars theme. We live across the country from each other, so she's been shipping me things. She sent some Pottery Barn sheets (to make into crib sheets) and her husband's OLD Star Wars pillowcase. I couldn't wait to do something with this pillowcase!

What are you most proud of?

Putting a zipper in a pillow that also has piping. It was tricky - not sure if I did it correctly, but it looks good.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't be afraid to take the plunge. This pillowcase was just sitting around, so it was worth the risk to make this into something that will be seen. Now they have a unique and sentimental item for their home!

Also, the pillow is an odd size, so I made a muslin insert that she can stuff with fiberfill.
