What was your inspiration?

I'm a Star Trek geek, I'll admit it. I'm also a fingerless gloves fan so it was only natural to combine the two eventually. :-)

I've written several gloves patterns and the idea for this specific design came to me on a long solo car drive recently. The body of made of mostly extended single crochet stitches (the gold stripes are regular single crochet); the cuff is made with foundation double crochet and post stitch ribbing. If you leave the fingers off, the pattern is fairly easy with minimal shaping.

The stripes & colors are based on the Original Star Trek series uniforms; I'm working on a "Next Generation" version that will also be included in the pattern when it is released. I'm also on the lookout for the right yarn to make a 'Captain Kirk' gold color pair with captain's stripes.

You could also substitute your favorite sports team colors if you're not into all things Trek. :-)
