What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Always starch your fabric two to three times prior to cutting and be as accurate as humanly possible when cutting.

The center is an old block called a rolling star. It was first published in Capper's Weekly in the early thirty. It fell out of favor when new techniques were developed because it doesn't lend itself to strip piecing and rotary cutting. Too many Y seams.
