What materials did you use? Moda marbles, batiques, blended prints, all cotton, and steam-a-seam.

What are you most proud of? I DID IT! I took on a personal challange and made it work.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? I was committed to duplicating the window to it's exact presentation. Be bold and step outside the bounds. Try another color variation or change the fabric choices.

You have inspired me to try stained glass quilting. I have a photograph of a stained glass window which graces the entryway of my brother's home and have been longing to turn it into a quilt. Your tree skirt is so very beautiful! How generous of you to place it in your church where it can be enjoyed and admired by the congregation!

Thank you Chumkie, I did the ledding by creating both bias and streight of grain strips. Of course the streight of grain is for the lons non crved parts. My strips are 3/4" ironed in half the length of the strip. I line up the strip next to the outside of the glass parts starting with the most recessed and finishing with the top center glass. this way all ends are covered. I sew very close to the raw edge of the ledding strips then fold over to cover all raw edges and sew along first ironed edge. I'm not fond of the iron on bias tapes.

Except for the actual quilting on the tree skirt, it is really hard to tell the difference between the two! You're pretty awesome, Mom.

This is a really stunning piece of work Rachael, just beautiful, it's not as busy as some of the Stained Glass Tree Skirts I've seen, but is more realistic for that, the second picture could actually BE a glass window behind an altar! Could you tell me, did you buy the pattern for this or was it on the internet? I'd appreciate your reply.

This is gorgeous! What a wonderful project. Was it a window in a local church or something you saw online?
