I know nothing about doing this, but would love to learn. Is it a large investment to get started? I live in a Senior community (independent living) though I am young I am dissabled. So, I like to do what I can to make everything beautiful around here. Gardens are fabulous, but when they can't see well, they don't mean so much. This would be amazing to do for them! I know the peeling fake stuff, but wonder if I could really do this? Will you clue me in here?

Hi. This is a fantastic hobby. There is a lot of work involved, but the end results are gorgeous. Your biggest expense will be the glass grinder. I'm assuming you live in the US. There's a site, company, on the internet called Delphi Glass. It can help you immensely as far as prices are concerned. I just checked and they have a grinder at $139.95. May sound expensive but I've had mine for about 12 years now and it's never broken down. Other items which are necessary are a glass cutter, foil, grozer pliers, soldering iron, running pliers, soldering gel, plus some chemicals. You can go into the Delphi website and price everything out.
